The Rule of Thirds
This is probably
the most got-to-know rule or technique in photography because of its simplicity
but also effectiveness on improving our pictures.
To apply this
technique, divide your frame into three parts with two lines, horizontally and
vertically alike, so that you get nine equal rectangles that compose your frame.
By placing the most relevant objects of your frame at the intersection of those
2x2 lines, or just along these lines, you will considerably improve the quality
of your pictures.
Below you can see
two examples of how to apply this rule on the same frame. The difference is
that in one of each pair is not applied correctly.
